An Ode to Earth, Wind, and Fire

My earliest memory of the legendary band, Earth, Wind, and Fire (EWF) was at one of my mother's house parties back in the late 70's. It was the kind of party where all the kids were sent to the room to play, while the adults had a good time in the living room. Of course, none of us kids ever went to sleep. We were dancing to the music we could hear from the living room. Whenever my mom invited us to join them, we would be so excited. “Just for a little while,” she would say. We danced with tambourines and shakers while the adults laughed and cheered us on at the same time. It wasn’t just the beautiful voices of Maurice White and Philip Bailey that made me recognize the band, but it was the funky horns, guitars, keyboards, and the drums, that I recognized. Those were the good ole days.

As an adult, I would see EWF in concert for the first time, and their live performance was amazing! Yet, I knew right away who was missing from the show, it was the band's founder, Maurice White. Sadly, a few years after that concert, I learned that Maurice White had passed away. I knew I had to pen something to show my appreciation for his music. So here it goes...

Love's Holiday is not a Fantasy or just my Imgaination. I knew you would Fall in Love with Me. Would You Mind if I held you and kissed you 'til the morning light? I'll Write a Song for You to show my Devotion. You are all the Reasons why I feel Mighty Mighty. Your love makes me dance to a Brazilian Rhyme as far as KalimbaEveryone knows I Wanna Be With You, because you are my Shining Star. You will never have to worry about Where Have All the Flowers Gone  because it's All About Love  and That's the Way of the World. After the Love is Gone, we need to fix it, so we can get that Happy Feeling back On Your Face like the days in September. Now let's all dance Side by Side, to the greatest band of all-time, Earth Wind and Fire.
